Sacroiliac Pain Book
Written by physical therapist Dr. Deborah B. Riczo, this book provides an excellent foundation in education about sacroiliac dysfunction, which is an important component of the Pelvic Girdle Musculoskeletal MethodSM, or PGM MethodSM. This includes common causes, pain locations/patterns, symptoms and typical muscles/tissues that are involved in sacroiliac dysfunction, even along with anatomy diagrams to assist understanding. Screening guidelines are given which directs individuals to specific exercises based on the individual’s screening results.
The PGM MethodSM empowers an individual to monitor his or her symptoms and address these symptoms with exercise. Exercises are designed to work on balancing muscles in regard to strength and flexibility between the right and left side of the body. Step-by-step instructions for the exercises are provided, complete with supporting video links. This method addresses the individual as a whole and is holistic in nature.
Additional components of the book include:
- Instruction on breathing for relaxation and pain management
- Tips on beginning a walking program and progression to other forms of exercise
- Education regarding use of a sacroiliac belt and other frequently asked questions
- Exercise planners for logging and tracking workouts
