Hi, I am Deborah, a physical therapist and author of 2 books written for consumers on pelvic girdle pain, which includes sacroiliac pain based on my work as a physical therapist. I have seen the success of this approach over many years, including the ones in which I practiced at a large county urban hospital, (over 30 years) MetroHealth Medical Center, Cleveland, OH. My desire is to get this simplified approach out to others. I have taught this method in continuing education courses at the national, state and district levels in my profession and to students at the doctorate level programs in physical therapy since 2011.
My first book which was published by OPTP, MN was "Sacroiliac Pain: understanding the Pelvic Girdle Musculoskeletal Method" which is a straightforward book with color pictures and links to videos that are important to this approach. I included a section on anatomy and the main muscles that are involved to help with understanding the steps in this method, the "why". The approach is holistic, as pain is multi-faceted.
My second book is "Back and Pelvic Girdle Pain in Pregnancy and Postpartum: find relief using the Pelvic Girdle Musculoskeletal Method." This book provides a great deal of information regarding back and pelvic girdle pain as well as other painful conditions that are common during pregnancy and postpartum, and advice and appropriate exercises. There is over 100 color photos of exercises for pregnancy and postpartum, video links, and a step-by-step approach to pelvic girdle pain, set in a holistic framework.
I am a true believer in the power of education and empowering the individual to take control of his/her health, to make healthy choices and lead a healthy lifestyle.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any comments, questions or suggestions.
